Iruka Judokwai have several qualified coaches, most of whom were students at the club who have progressed through the grading system to reach the necessary level of training to move towards a coaching accreditation. Coaching is a great way to encourage and support members and also helps to refresh your own skills.
Club Founder and Instructor with over 20 years experience. Carol started judo at the tender age of 40, rising swiftly through the grades achieving her brown belt competitively in one year. She then achieved her black belt technically,
The British Judo Association coaches have too meet strict coaching requirements. The minimum qualification requirements are.
1. First aid certificate re-validated every three years.
2. Safeguarding and protecting children certificate re-validated every three years.
3. Disclosure and Barring Service (D.B.S) formally known as C.R.B.
Criminal Records Bureau. Again checks carried out every three years.
4. All coaches are required to attend and participate in coaching re-validation courses appropriate to their coaching levels. These can be every three to six years depending upon their coaching qualification.
5. Barry, is a Senior Coach level 3 and Richard Godivala is a club coach level 2, he is also a referee and is study to become a kata coach as well.
6.Tracy Pizzey is Welfare Officer, and Kasia Williams is also a club Welfare Officer they have to attend higher levels of safeguarding children courses.
7. Iruka encourages volunteers to meet 1-3 above and supports them in attending appropriate sport and judo courses.
